Learn in Freedom

Memories for a lifetime

At the A Merla Branca Forest School, children grow and learn surrounded by nature. In the mornings, we are a preschool for children ages 2 to 6. In the afternoons, we open our doors to older groups, offering enriching educational experiences in a natural setting.

Our school is based on Montessori Pedagogy and Forest School Pedagogy, promoting autonomy, creativity and learning through experimentation. We believe that children learn best when they can explore, discover and feel the world around them, developing skills at their own pace.

Contact with nature enhances physical and emotional well-being, reinforcing curiosity and respect for the environment. Outdoor education improves concentration, self-confidence and the ability to solve problems creatively. The benefits of our pedagogy are multiple, click on this link to learn more: Benefits of Forest School

At A Merla Branca Forest School every day is a new adventure. Rain, wind or sun are part of the classroom, and each season brings new experiences. Children grow up with their feet on the ground, their hands in nature and their minds open to learning.

Free Play in nature allows children to choose the natural elements that most attract their attention and make creations depending on the difficulty they are willing to face at any given moment. It is as if a personalized activity had been prepared for each one. We educators only intervene in cases of danger or conflict. Alternating guided activities with Free Play time is essential for proper growth.

In the Forest School there are rules and limits. We have moments when it is the children themselves who make decisions through negotiation and the creation of agreements, and moments when it is us teachers who decide. Rules can be negotiated; limits can’t.
